Well, one of today's prompts is "What does it feel like when your muse electrified your inspiration?" so I guess this could work.
The news this morning about the Las Vegas shooting here in the U.S. "inspired" this bitter retching of a poem. So much has happened this year in America, and lately it seems like there's no recovery time between one disaster and the next. And this is just in America. There's so much devastation in the world right now. I hope that we can come together as human beings and put an end to this suffering. But right now it just feels like the last straw.
Exodus
To all the young ones
everywhere
This country's now
too much to bear
The guns
The bombs
The hate
The need
This morning's news
inspired this screed
So young folks
heed this angry
rant and
do what this old lady
can't
Do it now, don't
hesitate
It's not too late
to
emigrate
Well said!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a news junkie by any stretch, but seeing that headline first thing this morning sent me over the edge.
